Download your favorite Custom rom from XDA . Copy paste to SD card.
Switch of your phone .Boot to CWM recovery mode . Select "install zip from SD" using on screen touch or volume up down keys . Select your custom rom. Install.
If you want to make a 'back up" do it by selecting the "Back up and restore".
Back up may take upto 30 mins.
